When you price shop in Veterinary Medicine, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. For example, one hospital may use only intramuscular injectable anesthetics (noteably cheaper and sometimes less safe); another hospital may use an inhaled anesthetic (more expensive, more safe).

Hospitals also offer IV catheters +/- fluids during procedures, blood work of varying expense and completeness, pre-anesthetically, and pain medication.
